Working Committees

The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance has three Working Committees and invites members to become actively involved in committee activities:

Education & Communication
Chair: Dale Christian

The Education & Communication Working Committee works to inform, educate and engage all persons having an interest in Red Deer River watershed management; it also provides leadership and direction to the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance on aspects of education and communication. This Working Committee seeks to inform, engage, and raise the awareness of, members, stakeholders, media and the public on Red Deer River watershed issues and stewardship options.

Stewardship/ BMP (Beneficial Management Practices)
Chair: Doug Sawyer       
The Watershed Stewardship Working Committee liaises with Watershed Stewardship Groups within the Red Deer RIver watershed to support local watershed management efforts. This Working Committee plays a lead role in preparing the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance Stewardship Strategy and annual Workplan; it seeks to support existing Watershed Stewardship Groups and ensure that tools and processes are available to interested individuals in forming a Watershed Stewardship Group.

Finance, Fundraising & Membership

Chair: Paul Goranson

The Finance & Fundraising & Membership Working Committee works to maintain and expand Red Deer River Watershed Alliance funding sources by seeking opportunities for funding partnerships throughout the watershed. This Working Committee develops, administers and maintains a master fundraising list and solicits new funders to the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance to encourage representation of all interested stakeholders and multi-sectoral interests.
It also works to maintain and expand Red Deer River Watershed Alliance membership, by engaging all persons having an interest in Red Deer River watershed management.  This Working Group seeks to educate Red Deer River Watershed Alliance members of their rights and responsibilities, and works to develop, administer and maintain a master membership list.
