RDRWA Flows into 2016!

Body:

Dear members,

Welcome back to a new year with new projects, activities, and opportunities to get engaged on key watershed activities.

Some key events I would like to draw your attention to in this upcoming year are:

  • Feb 2 and 3, Project Blue Thumb - for all those currently participating in the Social Lab
  • Feb 19, Ambassador Breakfast here at the RDRWA. Come and learn about our cutting edge social lab; Project Blue Thumb, and its work on developing a municipality toolkit on wetlands via Project AWESOME (A Watershed Environmental System of Municipal Excellence)!
  • March 11, Our Spring Forum - details still to be decided but please hold the date
  • March 12 and 13, we will be at the 5th annual EcoLiving Fair presented by Peavey Mart and hosted by ReThink Red Deer
  • May 29, Red Deer River Cleanup with RBC - your chance to help us clean up the river!
  • June 7 and 8, Volunteers needed to help with our casino fundraiser
  • June 17, 10th Anniversary and RDRWA AGM plus the launch of a series of “RDRWA On Tour” Events - which will include;
    • a Bus Tour of the Headwaters, in partnership with the Resilience and Mitigation Branch, Alberta Environment and Parks (Potential Date of Thursday, June 23, 2016)
    • A discussion about natural habitats and agriculture in the Central Agricultural region
    • A tour to Bindloss and Acadia Valley looking at water quality

It’s going to be a great year. As well as these activities, we will be aiming to keep you informed of issues and reports that relate to the management of our wonderful watershed.

We also hope to launch Phase One of our Integrated Watershed Management Plan (water quality) - we can’t thank you enough for all of your work in helping us get this plan together.

But now, please support us through the ATB Cares initiative as the plan is put into action through various stakeholders - YOU included - across the watershed!

ATB Cares Initiative - ATB Financial has put up $100,000 to match 15% of all donations to Alberta charities through ATBCares.com up to a maximum of $1000 in matching per donation.
