AB Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program Survey

Body:

The Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program (WRRP) is a government led program that strives to improve the natural long-term resiliency of Alberta’s watersheds to withstand the impact of flood and drought. In addition, the program aims to address impacts of past flooding and/or droughts through the restoration of degraded priority areas of watersheds which will enhance communities’ ability to withstand future flooding or droughts.

Municipalities have a critical role in the management of riparian areas and wetlands. In relation to the WRRP, Alberta Environment and Parks is conducting a survey to understand how the government can work with Alberta’s municipalities to conserve the important functions of riparian areas and wetlands in priority areas throughout the province.  The results of this survey will help develop tools, information, resources and policy that support municipalities in conserving the important functions of these natural watershed features.

Municipalities interested in completing this survey are requested to contact Alberta Environment and Parks at esrd.wrrp@gov.ab.ca.  A personalized link to the survey will be made available upon request.

The deadline for survey responses is Friday, March 16, 2016.
