Red Deer - The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) Society is counting down the hours until launching their 2013 Shades of Ambition Fundraising Campaign. The federally registered charity is one of three chose to compete in this year’s campaign, a fundraising contest organized by the Parkland Mall in Red Deer.

The Alliance is inviting everyone to consider helping them out by volunteering and donating to this ambitious three - week campaign, getting underway March 7, 2013. Gerard Aldridge, Executive Director of the Alliance said their organization is very grateful to the Parkland Mall for providing the opportunity to compete for much needed donations. He also recognized and thanked Sunny 94 FM as their media sponsors for the contest. Aldridge said everyone knows water is needed for life; something that warrants always having it in mind as we live, work and play in the Red Deer River Watershed.

In this regard Aldridge sent a challenge in a message to all watershed residents in the City of Red Deer and beyond, when saying, “We hope you will decide to make healthy water your ambition and donate to the RDRWA!”

The Alliance is hoping to be the first charity to sell all its tiles made from their photo collage in order to win the contest’s top prize of $7,500. The Alliance invites the public to visit the 2013
Shades of Ambition kiosk located at the Parkland Mall Centre Court and make a donation by purchasing their tiles for $10 each. Tiles can be bought from March 7 - 27, 2013.

“They can also be bought online” Aldridge said, “Just visit the Parkland Mall’s website at parklandmall.ca.” For every tile bought, donors receive a tax-deductible receipt and are eligible for a prize, being a weekend package for two that includes cabin accommodation and horseback riding. Aldridge said, “We want to thank the Red Deer and District Labour Council as well as Ram River Tours for their generous donations toward making this prize possible.”

The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance Society is a multi-sector, non-profit organization, federally registered as a charity. The RDRWA promotes the good use and proper management of water in the Red Deer River Watershed. The watershed covers over 49,000 sq. km. of central Alberta and serves a diverse population of over 265,000 residents. The Alliance was created in September 2005 and is one of eleven Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils, which are part of Alberta’s Water for Life Strategy.
