X-Stream Science Workshop

Sunday, May 15 10:30am to 2:00pm Piper Creek Community Gardens (SW34-37-27W4), Red Deer

Join us for an opportunity to participate in a citizen science stream monitoring workshop in support of the Piper Creek Restoration Agriculture Project. This project is a partnership of a number of not-for-profit and municipalities working together to improve and enhance the condition of Piper Creek Watershed with funding support from Environment Canada's Environmental Damages Fund and additional support from Trout Unlimited.

This hands-on workshop focuses on the collection of water quality, quantity, and land use data which will be analyzed and completed on a yearly schedule (same time, same place) to allow for comparison over time.

X-Stream Science is led by the questions,

  • what is the health of our local stream environment?
  • how are different land uses changing water quality?
  • how do habitat variables affect aquatic life systems?
  • what changes can we see over time?

It's experiential, it's stewardship in action, it's Citizen Science!
