May 28, 2019- The Red Deer & District Community Foundation granted the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance $3,500 for a new project called " Using sceince and storyteling to spur watershed action".

Stories matter. Through this project, the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance will harness the power of local water and land-based stories, complement these stories with science -based messages, and develop a "Story of the Red Deer River watershed" to be shared widely using creative communications. imagine National Geographic meets Central Alberta- this project is a bit like that, and will ultimately make it easier for central Albertans to learn about and engage with water and land use issues.

The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance is a multi-sector , not for profit organization that works to promote the good use and proper management of water resources across the Red Deer River watershed in central Alberta. A designated Watershed Planning & Advisory Counicl under Alberta's Water for Life Strategy, the RDRWA acts as a forum for information exchange and dialogue, and supports education, outreach, and integrated planning related to key land use and water files with various sectors. Jeff hanger, Executive Director of the RDRWA, was thrilled to learn about the grant from the RDDCF, saying : "This project is an opportunity to put human faces to complex water and land issues. This will help us build relationships with people and then share their stories to help tell the story of the Red Deer River watershed".

The Red Deer & District Community Foundation is committed to growing a legacy for charities. It is a locally governed, privately funded, public foundation registered with the Canada Revenue Agency. It is the only local charity focused on creating and building permanent endowment that serve the Central Alberta community.
