Watershed Alliance Hosts Watershed Stewardship Meeting: Feb 15, 2013

Red Deer - The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) Society will be hosting a meeting of Watershed Stewardship Groups on Friday, February 15, 2013. It will be held at the Condor Community Hall in Condor, Alberta. The event is themed as Green Soup Issues in Central Alberta Waterways.

Getting underway at 9:30 a.m., the morning features talks on advances in testing methods allowing for the distinction between various sources of fecal coliform contamination and another talk on cyano-bacteria. Rounding out the morning, there will be a talk by the RDRWA on our effect on the watershed.

Following lunch, the afternoon focus is on project planning. It is intended to be of help to Watershed Stewardship Groups with the project planning process and with going about implementation of Beneficial Management Practices. The meeting is scheduled to wrap up by 3:00 p.m.

The Alliance is inviting anyone interested to register and attend. “We want the general public to know they are welcome too,” says Gerard Aldridge, Executive Director of the Alliance. “Who knows, you may decide there is a grassroots stewardship group near you in which you want to get involved!”

The Alliance asks that you let them know if you intend to go. There is a registration cost of $15 per person and lunch is included. More information is available on the Alliance’s website (www.rdrwa.ca), by emailing info@rdrwa.ca, or calling 403-340-7379. The Alliance also is on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.
