Watershed Alliance Launches New Website: February 20, 2013

Red Deer - The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) Society launched their new website Monday, February 11, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. MST. Much anticipated; months of input and preparation went into the web re-development project.

The Alliance is inviting everyone to visit their website at www.rdrwa.ca. “We want the general public as well as our members to bookmark our site and visit it regularly,” says Gerard Aldridge, Executive Director of the Alliance. “Who knows, you may decide to just, dive in, and help out!”

The Alliance chose the open source software, Drupal, for the Content Management Framework (CMF) at the back end of their new website. The RDRWA plans to fully integrate their future communications and event management through the improved functionality of the new CMF. In this regard, they will be utilizing CiviCRM open source software for their Member Relationship Management.

The redeveloped website is now more user-friendly for the growing number of visitors who access it using mobile devices. “It’s the fastest growing group of web visitors so it is important to streamline the website with them in mind,” Aldridge said. The new website includes Social Media buttons.

The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) Society is a multi-sector, non-profit organization, federally registered as a charity. The RDRWA promotes the good use and proper management of water in the Red Deer River Watershed. The watershed covers over 49,000 sq. km. of central Alberta. The Alliance was created in September 2005 and is one of eleven Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils, which are part of Alberta’s Water for Life Strategy.
