Seeking RDRWA Board of Director Nominations

The RDRWA is a collaborative, inclusive, multi-sector, non-profit organization that promotes the good use and proper management of water within the Red Deer River Watershed. RDRWA is the designated Watershed Planning and Advisory Council (WPAC) for the Red Deer River under Alberta Environment’s Water for Life Strategy. The organization is guided by a Board of Directors comprised of public and private sector volunteers from member organizations, municipalities and communities from within the watershed.

The RDRWA is seeking positive, skilled and motivated people who are interested in serving on our Board of Directors. Only members can sit on the Board of Directors, but membership is free. To sign up visit Serving on the RDRWA Board provides an opportunity to support the RDRWA mission, to participate in the leadership of watershed planning efforts while at the same time giving back to the community and the environment. Members are encouraged to seek election to the Board of Directors within his or her membership category:

  • Environment/Stewardship,
  • Agriculture/Business/Industry,
  • Municipal Government,
  • Provincial/Federal/Academic,
  • Member at Large, and
  • First Nations

Board members serve a two-year term, with the possibility of being re-elected for additional terms.

The formal nomination and election of the Board of Directors will take place at the Annual General Meeting. Nominations must be received at the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance Society’s office at least 14 days prior to the date of our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This year, the AGM is scheduled for June 20th.

So, nominations are due no later than June 6, 2013 at the office of the RDRWA. A nominated member must consent to the nomination and thereby recognize the substantial commitment to participate in the activities of the Society. To access the Nomination Consent Form click here. Attend the Candidate Info Session

To help you in making your decision to seek nomination for election to the Board, we are holding a Candidate Information Session at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013.

At this information session you find out more about the organization and the scope of the commitment expected of its elected Board members.

This information session will be held at the office of the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance located at 4918 - 59 Street, Red Deer, Alberta. Registration is available online or by calling the RDRWA office at 403-340-7379.
